ISO Annual Report 2011/2012

Our Mission

To mitigate risk through education, outreach and policy awareness campaigns. This is accomplished in partnership with the Information Security Advisory Committee, Information Security Liaisons, Net Managers, campus working groups, key departments and the UA community at large.

Our Charter

develop policies, procedures and guidelines with consideration of relevant legislation
provide guidance and direction to the university to assure compliance with security standards and appropriate policies
monitor and inform the university about information security trends and their potential impacts;
define appropriate compliance and enforcement procedures as needed
provide security education and training for faculty, staff and students

Christian Schreiber, CISM, PMP

Chris joined the UA in December 2012. He comes to us with more than 15 years of experience leading technology and information security teams in higher education, consulting, and shared services roles. Chris has a proven record of building programs and achieving measurable results across complex organizations, and he is looking forward to applying that experience to enhance our information security programs. Chris holds multiple professional certifications, including Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Project Management Professional (PMP), and the Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management (ITIL). Chris also completed a Masters Certificate in Project Management at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Central Michigan University.

Kelley Bogart, CISSP

Kelley has worked for UA for 21 years, and is the original fulltime member of the Information Security Office, established in 2000. Kelley earned her CISSP (Certified Information Security System Professional) in 2007, and naturally uses this expertise to help the UA business and user community understand the importance and alignment of security controls with business processes and decisions. She is well recognized in the Higher Ed community for her award-winning awareness and training materials, and is often called upon to consult with other institutions as they build their education programs. She is an avid UA basketball fan and loves country music and two stepping.

Gil Salazar
Senior Information Security Analyst, gsalazar@email.arizona.edu

Gil has been at the U of A for 32 years and has been involved in information security for the past 10. He joined the information security team in 2011, and brings an extensive background in computer servers and desktop configurations. Gil has an MIS degree from the U of A Eller college. When he’s not fighting cyber crime or consulting with the good guys, Gil loves to hike, take pictures and watch sporting events. You may have caught Gil’s security training sessions in “Control-Alt-Delete” (from his days with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences), or Security Awareness over the years. He is an avid Arizona supporter … Go Cats!

Teresa Banks
Manager, Information Security and Compliance Programs, tbanks@email.arizona.edu

Teresa has worked for the UA for 11 years, and has been part of the Information Security team since 2008. Her excellent communication and organizational skills, creativity and desire to serve the UA community combine to provide an important resource in building a strong campus-wide security program, including coordination of the Information Security Liaison governance group. If you have not met her face-to-face, it is likely you have already heard her speak, as she provides the voice-overs for UA’s nationally recognized security awareness training. Teresa is a UA alumna with a degree in Psychology, and is an avid music lover and musician.
