Responding to Phishing Could Lead to Tax Fraud

March 2, 2016

Arizona's Auditor General has shared an alert with state officials regarding the link between phishing scams and tax fraud.

A recent alert from the Auditor General stated that "At least one Arizona school district has already received such a phishing email that looked like it came from the District’s Internal Auditor, but did not. The alert indicates that the phishers can “spoof” an email address, such as an administrator’s email to appear more credible when making the request."
