Unemployment Insurance Fraud

The University of Arizona has become aware that several of our employees have been subjected to mail fraud where a malicious actor has filed unemployment claims on their behalf. This is a crime occurring in many states across the country right now.

The University is in contact with the FBI and the Arizona Department of Economic Security regarding this matter, is monitoring the situation, and will provide updates if they become available.

If you think you may have been impacted by unemployment insurance fraud:

  3. Monitor your credit reports and consider putting a freeze on your credit. You can check your credit reports at: https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0155-free-credit-reports.
  4. Report the identity theft to the FTC at https://identitytheft.gov
